Owner Mr. Wayne Farrell Completion Date 2006 Project Cost $4.0M Description Savannas Hospital, a psychiatric hospital of five interconnect buildings, was forced to close from heavy damage caused by the 2004 hurricanes. Bhide & Hall Architects prepared extensive construction documents for State AHCA approval and for bidding. We administered the construction and coordinated the project between the demands of the Insurance company, the State’s Agency for Health Care Administration, the general contractor, and the Owner. Telecommunication and data systems, emergency power system and the telemetry system all required restoration. Exterior doors, windows, roof system all required replacement and are now designed to withstand 140 mph hurricane forces. At the completion of work the hospital was fully reopened.

The Elementary School consisted of 37 classrooms, administrative, multipurpose, media center, computer classroom. School fully networked with voice, video and data including media retrieval. Also included an Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area (EHPA) to serve as a shelter during hurricanes.

Life Safety Codes and the regulations of the Department of Corrections greatly drove this project. Construction Management at risk method was used to complete this project within the budgeted amount. This was one of the most cost effective jail construction projects in its time.

The new JOCFT building was designed to fill this need. Located at Camp Blanding, this facility included daily use as a training center for emergency operations personnel from across the United States. During State-wide emergencies, this facility was designed as the primary Emergency Operations Center for the State of Florida.
